Website redesign without losing SEO
From $600 • 2-3 weeks • No ranking drops
When the design feels dated but you can't afford to lose search rankings. I rebuild the front end carefully: new design, Lighthouse 95+, mobile-first, refreshed structure — while preserving URLs, redirect maps and meta tags. Search traffic doesn't dip, conversion goes up.
When a site needs a redesign — and when it doesn't
A redesign isn't «let's repaint it prettier». It's a tool that pays off when: the design feels dated and erodes trust, the mobile version is rough, slow loads hurt conversion, behavioral metrics are bad (short time on site, high bounce rate), new competitors look fresher.
The main risk of a redesign is losing search traffic. I prevent it: preserve the URL structure (or build a 301 map), keep titles/descriptions/H1s, migrate structured data and JSON-LD. After launch I push a re-crawl to Search Console. In practice — rankings recover in 2-4 weeks and usually grow (Google rewards fresh sites).
If the site is technically fine (Lighthouse 90+, mobile is OK, leads are coming) — redesigning for the sake of «fresher» won't pay off. Spend that money on ads or new landing pages. I'll say so honestly if a redesign isn't worth it.
What's included
Audit before kickoff
Review the current site: what works, what doesn't, which pages drive traffic. Decide what to redesign and what to leave alone.
SEO preservation
1:1 URL map or 301 redirects, title/description/H1 migration, structured data carried over. Sitemap and robots.txt updated for the new structure.
New design in Figma
Not «repaint» but a re-build tuned to current business goals. Modern type, sensible mobile, clear CTAs.
Lighthouse 95+
WebP/AVIF images, lazy-loading, minification, dead-weight removed. 1-2 sec load on 4G.
Mobile-first responsive
Tested on iPhone, Android, iPad. Tap targets in thumb reach, body text ≥16px, forms with correct keyboard types.
Analytics and form migration
GA, GTM, goals, events, forms and CRM hooks migrate 1:1. No loss of historical data.
A/B metrics review
2-4 weeks after launch we compare behavioral metrics: time on site, bounce, conversion. Tells us if the redesign paid off.
30 days of polish
Month of free small fixes — spacing, colors, icons, copy. No new scope, just polish.

Frequently asked questions
How much traffic typically gets lost after a redesign?
With careful work — 0-15% temporarily (first 2-4 weeks), then recovers and often grows. Without URL/meta preservation — 30-70% lost permanently. That's why the SEO carry-over is mandatory.
Our site is on WordPress — can we migrate to Astro?
Yes, and it often pays off: Astro gives 5-10x more speed, better SEO, near-zero hosting cost. Content is scripted in, design is redrawn or recognizable elements preserved.
Can we redesign without migrating?
Yes — if your current CMS (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix) gives template access. But most «redesigns on Wix» are «same template, repainted». Limited upside. Pair redesign with migration for real gains.
When will we know the redesign paid off?
4-8 weeks post-launch. Compare in analytics: bounce rate, time on site, lead conversion, search rankings. If behavioral metrics rose and traffic didn't drop — the redesign worked.
Can we skip the redesign entirely?
If the site is fast, mobile is OK, forms work and leads come in — yes. Spend that money on ads or new landing pages. I'll say so honestly if a redesign isn't needed.
